Caithness schools could benefit from new probationer teachers
A new cohort of probationer teachers were welcomed to the Highlands on Friday (August 13) at an online induction event.
It marked the first of a wide range of professional learning events which run across the year, to support the needs of beginning teachers and their ongoing professional learning.
Nicky Grant, executive chief officer, education and learning welcomed the probationers saying: “This has been an exciting week for all in education across the Highland Council, starting with the outstanding improvements in our exam results across all key measures and culminating in us welcoming our new probationers to their school communities.
"I will be following each of their careers with interest and hope to visit many of them in their school settings as the year progresses. Our probationers will play a key role in the recovery of learning and teaching and the identification of our new attainment gap. This will be a vital part of their learning experience within our schools and I very much look forward to sharing their successes with them over the next year."
The newly qualified teachers start working in schools across the region from today and will play a key role in supporting children and young people as they return to schools.
