Pupils from Crossroads Primary School got creative to help their feathered friends through the cold winter months.

Schoolchildren and teachers worked together with staff and volunteers from RSPB Forsinard Flows to create bird feeders and bird boxes to help birds get ready for spring.

The school has registered for the RSPB Wildlife Challenge and the pupils are working towards their bronze level awards.

Next week, the school will take part in the RSPB Big Schools' Birdwatch, which will see children become conservation scientists for a day – learning how to survey for birds and provide important data for RSPB research.

All ages are welcome to take part in upcoming community events with RSPB Forsinard, which include a Family Activity Day on Tuesday, February 18 (10am to 1pm), and a Peatland Restoration Community Day (11am to 2pm) on Wednesday, February 19. These activities are free, but places are limited so booking is essential.
