A team of six rhythmic gymnasts from Caithness wowed the crowd with two dynamic and captivating routines at the 40th anniversary celebration of Scottish Gymfest at Ravenscraig sports centre in Motherwell.

The Caithness Rhythmic team – a section of Caithness Gymnastics Club – opened the weekend at the Friday night gala with a refreshed three-minute routine, offering an alternative version of their performance from the previous year. They followed this with a fresh routine on Saturday, choreographed to movie soundtracks that added a fun, familiar twist.

In front of an enthusiastic audience, the team performed a beautifully choreographed and technically intricate routine, showcasing all five rhythmic elements – ball, clubs, hoop, rope and ribbon – in a striking display of artistry and coordination.

The team travelled to the festival in a convoy of two cars and a van, joined by their coaches Diane Gibson, Sine Hamilton and Alana Bain, along with three parents who supported them throughout the weekend.

Gymfest is a celebration of display gymnastics, providing a platform to showcase the sport beyond traditional competition. It highlights the energy, creativity and teamwork involved in non-competitive routines, which are enjoyed by gymnasts in clubs across the country.

The gymnasts returned to Caithness proud of their accomplishments.
