Primary school pupils across Caithness paid their own tribute to the fallen on Armistice Day, in some cases using painted stones as symbols of remembrance.

At Castletown, the primary 5/6 children painted poppies onto stones and these are now at the Olrig war memorial on the village's Main Street.

Watten Primary School children also produced individually painted poppy rocks and laid them out around the village war memorial.

All pupils at Thrumster Primary School created paper poppies that were then laminated to add to a display at the school's outdoor classroom, and a two-minute silence was observed there.
