A CHARITY that offers emotional support, complementary therapies and counselling for people affected by multiple sclerosis (MS) is appealing for volunteers in Caithness to support its work.

MS Society Caithness Group is asking for regular support with organising fundraising events and coffee mornings.

The group would also like to attract coordinating team volunteers with responsibilities including deciding the group’s priorities each year.

Finance volunteer Catherine Cowan, who has been with the group for more than 30 years, said: “Volunteering with the MS Society Caithness Group has been a hugely rewarding experience.

“A large number of people in the local area are living with MS and it has been great to be able to support those affected by the condition over the years.

“We need more volunteers to help us make sure we’re reaching as many people affected by MS in the local area as possible.

“It’s very important that people are aware of what support is available to them.”

The Caithness group hopes to set up a newly diagnosed support group with the help of more volunteers.

Roles with the group are flexible, with volunteers helping out at times that suit them.
