Caithness man remanded for hammer attacks
A YOUNG Caithness man, who admitted assaulting two people with a hammer, was remanded in custody at Wick Sheriff Court on Friday.
Jason Reilly (25), described as a prisoner in Inverness, previously admitted repeatedly striking a man with a hammer about the head and body to his severe injury at a house in St John’s House in Thurso on May 4. A woman in the house sustained injuries when she, too, was hit with the hammer on the head and body.
Reilly, who appeared on indictment, also pleaded guilty to forcing entry into a house in Brownhill Road in Thurso on the same day and attempting to assault a male occupant with a hammer. He further admitted assaulting a man in Trostan Road in Thurso on May 4 by repeatedly punching and kicking him on the head and body to his severe injury.
Solicitor Ross Gray asked the court to continue the case as he only took over from another legal representative on Monday. Senior fiscal depute David Barclay did not oppose the request. Sheriff Andrew Berry deferred the case until August 31.
