Caithness is set to see the hottest day of the year tomorrow.

CAITHNESS is set to sizzle tomorrow (Saturday) with temperatures set to rise up to the mid 20s.

Thurso will see the best of the sunshine with the mercury expected to hit 24 degrees Celsius, the hottest day of the year so far.

Wick will be slightly cooler but still very warm with coastal winds likely to push temperatures down to 20C.

The average annual temperature for May in the Far North is between 13C and 14C with current values usually only expected in August.

Met office spokesperson Charlie Powell said that the best of the weather for the region is expected to last until Sunday before cooling down at the beginning of next week.

“There will be a noticeable difference between the east coast and the west, as temperatures will be significantly higher the further inland that you go.”
