This weekend's Caithness virtual market looks set to be successful with 50 businesses signed up so far – raising £500 for charity.

Each of the virtual stall holders donated the sum of £10 which will go towards Caithness Klics Young Carers, winners of a recent public vote on social media.

The event, the second one to be held, will take place on Saturday on Facebook and Instagram.

Local artist and organiser Lisa Poulsen said: "Community and connection is at the heart of #CaithnessMarket so it's great to see so many businesses and browsers supporting the virtual event.

"This time we have a number of retailers, talented creatives, a chocolatier, a publishing company and even a Pilates instructor taking part. The market will go live on Facebook and Instagram between 11am and 3pm with workshop tours, demonstrations, Q&A sessions, exclusive product launches and discounts, to name a few.

"With the weather taking a turn, it’ll be the perfect opportunity for folk to grab a cuppa and tune in from the safety and comfort of their own homes, not only in Caithness but from anywhere in the world.

"All thanks to technology and some brave businesses willing to push out of their comfort zones while supporting young carers in Caithness.”
