Some 350 children across the county benefited from the generosity of local people who supported the 2022 Caithness FM Toy Appeal.

It was the 28th year of the appeal, with the community radio station again asking the public to donate gifts such as toys, books, toiletries, pyjamas or anything that a child from newborn to 18 could use.

Caithness FM's company secretary Jackie Johnson said: "On behalf of Caithness FM we’d like to thank every single person who donated or helped in any way with this year's toy appeal. There are far too many to mention but each one makes a difference to a local child.

"The appeal has been running now for 28 years and every year it just gets bigger and bigger.

"When we started off the 2022 appeal, we fully expected there to be less donated and more people needing help – especially as living costs are rising so quickly. However, we underestimated the generosity of the Caithness folk.

"We are both delighted and sad to say that 350 children in Caithness would have smiled on Christmas morning thanks to you.

"It’s important to us and to our listeners that our children in Caithness receive the help they need at Christmas time and we couldn’t do it without your help – so thank you.

"We’d especially like to thank our elves who man the phone and take on the extremely daunting task of sorting all the gifts and arranging distribution – we couldn’t do it without them.

"Thanks also to the Dunnet family for their help, and also all the staff at the various collection points across the county – they have been fantastic yet again.

"From everyone here at Caithness FM we thank you all, each and every one."
