Caithness FM set for early start between Christmas and Hogmanay
Listeners to a local radio station are in for a festive treat next week – with the Caithness craic coming to their ears in the mornings.
Caithness FM usually broadcasts every evening from 6pm, but for one week starting from Monday, there will be two hours of extra entertainment.
The channel will broadcast on 106.5FM and on its website at www.caithnessfm.co.uk between 8am and 10am each morning.
Caithness FM's Jackie Johnson said that five of the presenters will take it in turn to keep the festive fun rolling along.
She said: "So each day on the week between Christmas and Hogmanay – usually spent playing Monopoly and talking about redecorating the house – will at least get off to a bright start with a local mix of lively music interspersed with local weather reports, travel updates and some good old Caithness craic!

"We start the week off on Monday with Kenny McArthur who you would normally hear on a Saturday afternoon, his dry sense of humour is just the thing to start the day off right.
"On Tuesday we have Steve MacDonald coaxing you out of bed. No stranger to morning radio, Steve started off his radio career at MFR presenting a breakfast show on their community radio station.
"Next is our very own Robin Young. Robin assures us that he can say good morning just as well as good evening. You will usually find Robin air on Sunday and Monday nights with his Country and Scottish shows, but he’ll be laying aside his Jimmy Shand records for at least two hours on Wednesday morning.
"One of our younger presenters, Shane Ross, takes over on Thursday morning in a change from his usual early Saturday night slot.
"Finally, we end the week on Friday with Sand Owsnett who usually broadcasts between 9 and 11 on a Saturday night – better set the alarm Sand!
"We finish off the year with our usual Friday night schedule, followed by Bob and Jackie Johnson taking us into the New Year with our traditional Hogmanay show. Bob and Jackie will be entertaining us between 11pm and 1am."
