As Christmas fast approaches, local radio station Caithness FM (CFM) is again launching its annual toy appeal.

In this 28th year of the appeal, the need for it is unfortunately growing as many families are forced to ask for help through no fault of their own.

The stations's Jackie Johnson said: "At Caithness FM we hate the thought of any child waking up on Christmas morning to discover that Santa has forgotten them and we are therefore asking for your help once again.

"We realise things are difficult for everyone and are asking that, if you can, you buy just one extra gift. The gift should be new and unwrapped and can be toys, books, toiletries, pyjamas or anything that a child from new born to 18 can use."

Donations can be left at any of the collection points up to December 21. In Thurso, that’s at the North Coast Visitor Centre, Semi Chem, Serendipity, Bank of Scotland, Royal British Legion and of course at the Caithness FM studio. Pupils at Thurso High School can also donate there. In Wick, you can donate at the Bank of Scotland, Argos and Tesco.

The Caithness FM Toy Appeal is independent of any other and the station guarantees that all gifts donated go to children in Caithness.

For more information tune into CFM on 106.5fm, online at www.caithnessfm.co.uk or you can now listen on your Alexa smart speaker. Jackie said: "The first time you try Alexa just say 'Alexa enable the Caithness FM skill' – after that when you log in it's just 'Alexa open Caithness FM'."
