Caithness FM will celebrate the refurbishment of its base in Thurso by hosting an open day this weekend.

After 26 years of broadcasting from Neil Gunn Drive, the community radio station has undergone a major facelift.

The building has been redecorated and modernised and the broadcasting studio has been completely refurbished with a modern, bright layout and a new digital desk.

The team at Caithness FM is inviting the public to come along and see the changes for themselves. The studio will be open to the public from 2-4pm on Saturday, August 17.

Company secretary Jackie Johnson said: “We would like to thank Petrie Painters and Decorators and Lee Mackay Joinery for the extremely high standard of workmanship and their flexibility which allowed the project to be done according to programme.

“We also thank Ormlie Lodge Club for the donation of furnishings and, last but not least, Graham Sinclair of Dynamic Sounds Disco for his help in identifying, sourcing and installing the new equipment. The support the station has received has been amazing.

“We hope to see many of you in our studio.”

Every year, in the run-up to the festive season, the station organises the Caithness FM Toy Appeal. More than 400 children across the county benefited from the generosity of local people who supported the appeal in 2023.

Caithness FM can be heard on 106.5 FM and at caithnessfm.co.uk
