Caithness Family History Society will take a virtual tour around historic Brora

Brora's industrial history will be the subject of an online talk by Jacquie Aitken, coordinator of the Brora Salt Pans Research Group.

Caithness Family History Society (CFHS) will take a trip to Sutherland for its next online meeting at 7pm on Wednesday, April 13.

Jacquie Aitken, coordinator of the Brora Salt Pans Research Group will give a presentation entitled Brora's Tramways and Waggonway 1770-1970.

It will be a virtual tour of the industrial sites along the old routes, including former coal pits and salt pans, brickworks, woollen mills and Brora's three bridges, railway station, icehouse and beautiful harbour.

Jacquie is museum and digital heritage curator at Timespan in Helmsdale. She has a background in archaeology, museums and immersive technology and a lifelong interest in researching Highland history, landscapes and communities. She initiated interest in the archaeological remains of Brora’s salt industry over 20 years ago and now co-coordinates the Brora Salt Pans Research Group.
