Caithness Family History Society’s (CFHS) February talk is by member Jayden Alexander entitled "My Family Tree and the Treasures I’ve Found".

Wick-born Jayden began researching his family history when he was in his first year of secondary school. He is currently the society’s vice-chairperson and journal editor and also designs its posters.

Jayden said: “In my talk I hope to take the audience on a wee journey into my research, looking at different branches of my family tree and delving into the background of some of the many treasures I've found along the way, including the Dennis Manson Collection, a mysterious bust which appears to be a precious family heirloom, and a family mystery from 'down under' which led us to an amazing bundle of family letters and photographs.

"I hope to touch on some family names such as the Cormacks of Huna and the Dunnets of Canisbay, the Cormacks of Nipster, the Haster Sutherlands and the Alexanders of Watten – the same as Dr John and Alexander Alexander.”

At the end of the meeting, there will be the opportunity for a cuppa and a chat and CFHS books will be on sale.

The talk is on Tuesday, February 14 at 7pm in the Nethercliffe Hotel, Wick. It is hoped to record it for the CFHS website and Facebook page, but it will not be available via Zoom.

CFHS has a Facebook page and a website www.caithnessfhs.org.uk

The society can be contacted by emailing: enquiries@caithnessfhs.org.uk
