Caithness Family History group hosts special online presentation
Caithness Family History Society’s November meeting is an online presentation entitled, Tips and Tricks for Getting the Best out of www.scottishindexes.com by Emma Maxwell of Scottish Indexes.
Graham Maxwell first set up Maxwell Ancestry in 1996, then in 2001 his wife Emma joined the team. As far back as 2001 Graham and Emma were indexing records so that you could trace your Scottish family tree from anywhere in the world.
Moving with the times, Scottish Indexes was launched in 2014. The new website gave online access to Scottish genealogy records. These include census, birth, marriage and death records and even criminal records. Throughout all this time, the goal has remained the same – to help people research their family trees.
When the Covid-19 pandemic struck, millions of people around the world were stuck at home and locked out of their archives. Graham and Emma worked quickly, in the spring of 2020, to start a series of free Scottish genealogy conferences. The first was held in April 2020 and, since then, family historians from around the world have been benefitting from these great learning opportunities.
Emma’s presentation is on Tuesday, November 8 at 7pm. To register for the event, email caithnessfhs@btinternet.com by Friday, November 4.
