A festive single by Caithness entertainer Brandon McPhee has been riding high in an Australian country music chart for over a month.

The Wick-based accordionist and singer spent two weeks at number one in the Tasmania and OZCMR Top 40 Country Chart with the single How Do I Wrap My Heart Up for Christmas?

The song started off at number 13. It went down to number six after its spell in top spot and is at 11 in the first weekly chart of 2021.

A third week at the top would have given Brandon a Christmas number one but that distinction went to Australian singer Keith Urban.

OZCMR is an internet country music station with an emphasis on playing independent country music recordings by artistes from Australia as well as overseas. The station also has an overall Top 60 chart based on the amount of airplay over 52 weeks and Brandon is at number 13 in it.

The song was written by Randy Travis and Paul Overstreet.

Brandon (24) was joined by special guests from the Caithness music scene for two successful online concerts at Christmas and New Year.

The next online event for Brandon and his band will be a celebration of the life of the late accordion maestro Sir Jimmy Shand, to be shown on January 28. It will replicate their acclaimed live show, The Jimmy Shand Story, which toured venues across the UK and Ireland from 2017 to 2019.

Brandon is an accordion champion and multi-award-winning singer who has been performing since the age of 10.
