Caithness disabled riders hand out awards at Christmas show

It was third time lucky for the annual Christmas show for Caithness Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) after ice put paid for the previous two weeks.
Judith Miller, chairperson, welcomed everyone and gave a special welcome to all invited guests including Jimmy Johnston, the group’s new honorary president.
After the riders did a display to their families and teachers on a wet and blustery morning, the awards were presented.
Ride 1 – Coach was Mary Elder and trophies and rosettes were handed over by Elaine Watson and Sally Thomson.
Individual Shields for the following: Most Improved - Teegan Cannop. Endeavour - Orla Donaghy. Happiest - Paige Billington. Best Position - Conall Wilkinson. Best Rider - Charlie Litchfield. Achievement - Finlay Beresford.
Ride 2 – Coach was Steph Cowe and trophies and rosettes were handed over by Heather Rosie and Claire Fraser from the Dale Rosie Memorial Fund.
Miss Joan Treglowan Memorial Shield (RDA Summer Show) for Bravest - Kaiden Gunn.
Wick High School YPI 2013 Shield for Endeavour - Ella Cormack Martin.
Dale Rosie Memorial Shield for Best Rider - Liam Manson.
Miss Joan Treglowan Memorial Shield (Christmas Show) for Most Improved - Freyja Foreman.
Shelley Minter Memorial Trophy for Most Enthusiastic - Callie-Lee Bremner.
Miss Joan Treglowan Memorial Shield (Christmas Show) for Achievement - Alexander Jakobik.
Heather and Claire, along with John handed over a cheque for £6600 from a dance, bingo and raffles throughout the year organised by Claire, as well as donations from Dounreay Communities Fund and Subsea 7.
Caithness RDA is greatly indebted to John, Heather and Claire for all the time and effort put into organising their fundraising activities during the year. This was gratefully accepted by Judith Miller and Anne Gunn, treasurer of Caithness RDA.
Geoffrey Minter, formerly of Sandside, Reay, donated a new trophy in memory of his late wife, Shelley, and this was handed over by Liz Hewitson to Callie-Lee Bremner.
Ride 3 – Coach was Steph Cowe and trophies and rosettes were handed over by Sheena Budge.
Individual Shields for the following: Endeavour - Arty Kane. Best Rider - Robbie Fulton. Achievement - Iain Dunbar. Best Position - Marty Mackenzie. Most Improved - Alex-Lee Miller.
Children then paid a visit to Santa Claus along with his wee miniature pony “reindeer” Tarry where they all received a gift.
