A date has been set aside in the local farming calendar for the return of the County Show, which is scheduled to take place at Thurso East on July 15-16.

Like many local events the popular agricultural show has not been staged since 2019 due to Covid-19 restrictions.

Show president John Murray said: "We are certainly keen to go ahead with the show – plans are progressing."

He explained that the organising committee would add whatever new measures were required to comply with updated Covid-19 guidelines.

The Caithness Agricultural Society's AGM is coming up soon and after that the committee will be able to move on with event plans. A redesign of the website is also on the cards.

Entries for 2022 are set to open on Friday, April 22, with a closing date of Monday, May 30. The new show secretary is Nicola Macleod.
