Standards were as high as ever in the flower tent, according to flower show convener Avril Henderson.

"Entries are up all round this year, which is great – children's section, pot plants, cut flowers and floral art,” she said as show-goers admired the colourful showcase of Caithness gardening talents.

A focal point was a horse installation created as a joint project by flower show committee members and Westfield Timber Supplies. They used hay and chicken wire to construct the horse around a wooden frame.

Mrs Henderson added: "The display in the middle of the tent has created a lot of interest. We've had lot of people coming in just to have a look at the horse that we made."

Marion Sutherland, of Granton Mains, Bower, had most points overall, as well as the best exhibit.
