Lots of laughs were had at an evening of entertainment hosted by Wick Players during the town's gala week.
The variety show was a great success and comprised of two plays from the Caithness comedy collection of former well-known Wick Players' stalwart, Ian Mathieson.
The evening was opened with a performance from Elise Lyall School of Dance – the dancers performed several dance routines throughout the night.
The first play was called 'Heads or Tails?' and was directed by the cast with asistance from Jenny Syfelbain. Gina Alexander played the mother, Janet Gunn, with Alan Plowman as Sandy Gunn, the father, and Jayden Alexander played the son, Robbie.
Next up was 'Spring Cleaning' also directed by the cast and performed by Marney Bruce as Maggie Miller, Margaret Thomson took on the role of Jessie Mackay and Mrs Gardner was played by newcomer Jane Taylor who was making her debut with the club.
A vote of thanks was given by Eswyl Fell who has given lots of support to Wick Players over the years by taking photos at many productions and events.
Commenting on the evening, Eswyl said: "The plays were hilarious, and the acting as usual was superb. Elise Lyall's dancers were skilled and graceful with beautifully choreographed routines. The dance choreographed as a tribute to the late Willie Lyall was especially poignant as it was danced by his granddaughter, Susie Lyall.
"The audience really enjoyed the plays and more so as they were written by none other than Ian Mathieson himself."
Wick Player's secretary Jayden Alexander thanked all those who helped make the evening a success, including Elise Lyall, and Colin Stewart for filming the show, as well as the recent talk by Kathlyn Harper about the history of the club.
Delighted to be asked to take part in this year's gala, he added: "Wick Players would like to congratulate the gala committee for making the return of the gala such a spectacular one and the club committee would like to wish them all the very best for the 2023 gala.
"A vote of thanks is also due to Derek Douglas who did a tremendous job at compèring the evening, in his usual witty yet charming way."
The cast of 'Heids or Tails?' are delighted to be get the chance to perform the Caithness comedy again this Sunday (August 14) at an evening being presented by Thurso Players at the Mill Theatre.
Also featuring on the same night will be Bon Accord Players with A Galway Girl, part of the 2022 SCDA festival season.
