TWO local charities benefited from a diamond wedding anniversary celebrated by Mid Clyth couple Alistair and Pat Lamont.

Instead of presents, guests who attended an afternoon tea at Mackays Hotel in Wick were invited to make a donation to Caithness Heart Support Group and the Laurandy Centre at the airport industrial site, each receiving £100.

The cheques were presented to Laurandy trainee manager Tracy Mackay and care worker Alison Robertson and to heart support group secretary Marge Donaldson. Mr Lamont regularly attends Laurandy, which provides daycare services for older people in the community.

Caithness Heart Support Group provides much-needed equipment and also acts as a social forum for patients due to go into hospital for operations and those recuperating.
