Caithness care home residents and staff join in Barchester Big Quiz

Residents and staff at two Caithness care showed their quizzing abilities in a nationwide test of general knowledge.

Pentland View and Seaview House, both run by Barchester Healthcare, were among more than 250 care homes and hospitals across the UK taking part in the second Barchester Big Quiz.

Questions ranged from history and geography to pictorial puzzles.

Jeanine Sinclair, activities coordinator at Pentland View in Thurso, said: “Our residents do love a good quiz. They’re also very competitive and want to come out on top.

“The Barchester live games each month are always a lot of fun and bring out our competitive streak.”

Pentland View resident Barbara Thompson said: “We’re very clever and now everyone knows!”

Elaine Mackie, who is standing in as activities coordinator at Seaview House in Wick, said: “We had quite a bit of fun trying to work out all the answers, and we had some family members helping us as well.

“We got 34 out of 35 and we’re quite proud of that.”
