WICK band Always the Sixth will be playing at the Belladrum music festival this weekend for the second year running.

The four-piece pop-rock group, featuring Iain Henderson on guitar, Craig Jappy on bass, vocalist Niall Gallagher and drummer Gregor Cowie, will be on stage on Saturday night.

They will be on the same bill as Kobi, Parmaviolets, The Little Mill of Happiness, Carnivores and The Whisky River Band.

Always the Sixth became the first Caithness band to appear at RockNess when they played there in June with such well-known names as Kasabian, Paolo Nutini and Mark Ronson.

Meanwhile, police have praised revellers after a peaceful first night at the Belladrum event.

The wet weather did little to dampen the spirits of festival-goers as the first night passed on Thursday without any incident.

Police said revellers are generally in good spirits ahead of the first two full days at Belladrum.

Police event commander Chief Inspector Jim Neill said: “Despite the wet start to the festival, we are pleased to report no incidents overnight. Festival-goers appear to be in good spirits and we hope people continue to enjoy themselves, while at the same time staying safe.”
