Sixty-five artists are taking part in the Society of Caithness Artists' latest online exhibition, Reaching Out, which is running throughout December.

The society's chairman, Ian Pearson, said: “These artists all have a Caithness connection but the appeal of their artwork is international."

Purchases can be made by contacting artists directly. To maximise the benefits to the artists, the society is not taking any commission.

Mr Pearson added: “We wish to continue our support to the local visual arts scene and have used feedback from our online exhibition in the summer to develop the website to enhance the viewers' enjoyment."

The title of the exhibition reflects the fact that the pandemic can lead to artists feeling isolated or forgotten.

Mr Pearson added: "We are reaching out to everyone. While recognising the limits of being able to put on a physical exhibition, it was felt we could not just walk away and had to react – thus this exhibition was born.”

It can be viewed on the society’s website.

The art on display includes work by regular contributors to the society’s exhibitions alongside those that have never exhibited before with the society. There is a mixture of media blending contemporary and more traditional styles expressed in two dimensions as well as three.

"There is something for everyone," Mr Pearson said.
