CAB gives Wick assurance after moving out of High Street base
Caithness Citizens Advice Bureau has given an assurance that it is “business as usual” in Wick after moving out of its current premises in the town centre.
The base at 123 High Street is being sold and a room within The Haven, Caithness Mental Health Support Group’s centre in Bankhead Road, will now be used for face-to-face appointments.
Caithness CAB is an independent charity that provides free, impartial and confidential advice and information.
Chief officer Jane MacIntosh said: “The support and advice provided by Caithness Citizens Advice Bureau to residents in Wick is evolving positively to ensure that all clients’ wants and needs are met.
“The current premises at 123 High Street, Wick, are in the process of being sold to generate further income which will support and advance our services.
“Caithness CAB would like to reassure our clients that we are business as usual. Our appointments will be flexible to meet the needs of our clients.
“The Haven has kindly stepped up to support Caithness CAB by providing us with access to a room to see clients for specific, specialist appointments.
“Alternatively, clients may wish to participate in a video call or telephone call with a specialist adviser from the comfort of their own home. Home visits will continue to be reserved for exceptional circumstances.
“For all enquiries, we ask in the first instance the bureau is contacted either by calling 01847 894243 or emailing thu-bureau@caithnesscab.casonline.org.uk – we look forward to supporting the people of Wick for many years to come.”
As reported last week, Caithness CAB is collaborating with Caithness Foodbank on a project that is tackling poverty by raising awareness of unclaimed benefits.
It is funded for two years by the anti-poverty charity Trussell Trust, with CAB’s Nicolle Robertson in the full-time role of food insecurity adviser.
In its first five months the project has brought more than £90,000 into the county and it is helping to reduce reliance on food parcels.
