A BURST water main hit supplies to homes and businesses in the Lybster area on Thursday.

Scottish Water confirmed that its engineers spent several hours working to fix the problem after the issue was reported.

In an update on Thursday morning the company said the burst main had interrupted water supplies for some customers and warned that while repairs were carried out, people might experience no or low water supplies.

Speaking at the time, a spokesperson for the company said: "We are currently repairing a burst water pipe which is causing the interruption to the water supply for customers in Lybster.

"While we carry out the repair please be aware that you may experience no water supply, low / intermittent pressure or discoloured water."

They also warned that after repairs were complete that supplies could take up to two hours for supplies to all customers to return to normal.

They added that the outage was not expected to last long enough for them to consider providing bottled water distribution points.
