BRORA Rangers is to try and get its ban from the Highland League cup competition revoked.

The club was thrown out of the cup after fielding an ineligible player in the final minutes of the game against Clach.

Although the club “fully accepts” the error it claims the decision “beggars belief” and is unprecedented. There is no right of appeal.

Lawyers have been instructed to write to the Highland Football League (HFL) asking for the decision to be revoked immediately or court action will be taken.

Club chairman, John Young, said the mistake was due to an oversight by the club. “This decision simply beggars belief. We have been subject to a decision made behind closed doors, by rules which don’t even apply and by teams still in the competition. Of the eleven clubs who voted, six are still in the competition and this is a clear conflict of interest. And we have been denied the basic right to appeal by both HFL and the Scottish Football Association. There is no justice in this whatsoever. We fully intend to take this all the way – our players, management and supporters deserve nothing less,” he said.
