WICK and Thurso now have access to superfast broadband following an acceleration of the work to bring it to the area.

Now the fibre based broadband, with speeds of up to 80 mbps, are available to more than 6000 homes and businesses in the two Caithness towns through the Digital Scotland Superfast Broadband project.

Another 700 premises are expected to get the service soon and it is hoped the whole of Caithness could benefit from it by the end of the year.

Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) is leading the £146m partnership, which is funded by the Scottish Government, Broadband Delivery UK, HIE and BT.
