Cops bust Wick cannabis farm at former government offices





Witnesses saw officers from around eight police vehicles conduct a drugs raid at a former social security office in Wick on Wednesday evening.

Police confirmed that the activities were connected to the discovery of a cannabis farm at the site on Girnigoe Street.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 6.15pm on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, officers attended a disused premises on Girnigoe Street, Wick.

“A cannabis cultivation was discovered within, and enquiries are ongoing.”

One witness said they saw around eight vehicles on Girnigoe Street when the initial raid took place. “Heard it was a drugs farm at the old ‘broo’ [benefits office]. I saw the cops going door to door around the area, making enquiries,” he added.

“There was a strong smell coming from the place.”

A large police presence is noticeable in the town, with another witness seeing a police car parked by St Fergus church and saying that officers are still at the site, which has been cordoned off with tape.
