Bower teen’s new album released after ‘shocking dreams’ brought him to Caithness
Bower teenager, Shiloh Wendrich, celebrates the release of his first album ‘Goodbye Llanelli’ which came after a period of intense emotional upheaval.
Five years ago, Shiloh left his childhood home in Llanelli, South Wales, when both his parents said they had “shocking dreams” that they were being called to make a move of faith to the far north of Scotland.
The emotional upheaval for the whole family was huge, and songwriting became a vehicle for the 19-year-old to transmute the sadness of leaving old friends and the playground of his youth.
“The inspiration for my album can be narrowed down to three things: Love, loss, and God,” said Shiloh.
“I’m currently working on a short Halloween album of five songs and hoping to release it in time for Halloween.”
Shiloh used the solitude of Covid lockdowns to learn how to play guitar and piano, as well as developing his recording, video and editing techniques. When things opened up again he forged new friendships within a Caithness scouting group and at Lyth Arts Centre (LAC).
He enrolled in an online creative industries course with the UHI while continuing with his home education and feels that his career path is guiding him towards working within the music industry.
Through its heartfelt lyrics and gentle melodies, Goodbye Llanelli is a testament to the “sacrifices, losses and hurts, and the faith, hope and eventual healing” that have carried Shiloh forward. He thanks all those who have helped him realise his vision.

Shiloh adds: “My hopes for the future are as ambitious as they come. Right now I’m happy as a recording artist, but if I become very successful I really want to go on tour.”
