Pupils at Bower Primary School have been gathering gifts to support Thurso Community Café in providing care boxes to those in need.

These were collected by Ann Brock from the community café, one of the school's parents. She will make up packages for those who are vulnerable and facing financial difficulties – ensuring that local people have the opportunity to receive something special this festive season.

P1-4 teacher Vicki Ross said: "I am always proud of our children at Bower but the effort to provide for this campaign is above and beyond.

"I am hugely overwhelmed by the generosity and their understanding of how others are not as lucky as they are, especially this year during such hard times."

P5-7 teacher Claire Henderson said: "I am immensely proud of the whole school and their drive to gather what they could to make someone less fortunate than themselves feel happy and not miss out on that Christmas spirit."

Head teacher Fraser Thomson said it had been an excellent effort by all. He added: "I am proud of the school as a whole. The generosity shown by parents and pupils has been inspiring."
