Pupils and staff from Bower Primary School were joined by families and friends for a coffee morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

A total of £504.24 was raised at Friday's event in the local community hall.

Pupils had organised face-painting and nail-painting as well as skin pattern transfers for fellow pupils and nursery youngsters who attend Bower Busy Bees. The school community rallied to contribute to the raffle which had more than 20 prizes, including two luxury hampers and a voucher for local salon The Hair Hut.

The coffee morning was attended by more than 70 guests. Families and others contributed home-baking treats and preserves to sell.

Bower Primary School's parent council secretary Grace Pottinger said: “After two years of not being able to hold what was a key event in our opening term’s calendar, it was great to be able to get together for such an important cause.”
