On Tuesday, a Bower-based company donated beds – formerly used in special accommodation pods – to needy families in Caithness.
James Fisher Nuclear Ltd, (JFN) based at Bower, had a number of single accommodation pods on hire at the site to house employees travelling to Bower from various sites south. Following a yearly review, it was decided to take the pods off hire and use local hotels/facilities etc instead.
The pods each had a bed and it was agreed that JFN would donate these to deserving local families through New Start Highland.
There were seven beds in total, all with accompanying bed linen, mattress covers and pillows. They were all picked up from Bower by New Start employees and gratefully received on Tuesday (February 22).
JFN is an established supplier of specialist engineering, manufacturing and technical services for customers operating in challenging environments or with high integrity applications. The company has developed "expert design skills and experience and has a strong reputation for responsiveness, delivery and added value".
