Booze ban for T in the Park rail passengers
MUSIC fans from Caithness travelling by rail to Scotland’s biggest summer festival are facing a booze ban.
Passengers heading for Balado, near Kinross, for three days of music at T in the Park are being advised by British Transport Police and ScotRail alcohol will be prohibited on a number of trains prior to the event.
Sergeant Stephen Todd, of the BTP, said alcohol will be confiscated and anyone indulging in behaviour deemed unacceptable will be dealt with appropriately.
“If you are using the train to travel to Perth please be aware that not all your fellow passengers are going to T in the Park,” he said.
“We want to ensure that everyone can travel without encountering antisocial behaviour and officers will be patrolling the affected trains.”

The ban will start on Thursday and affect the 6.20am and 8.12am services from Wick to Inverness, and the 10.47am and 12.47pm services from Inverness to Perth. On Friday alcohol will be prohibited on the 10.47am and 12.47pm services between Inverness and Perth.
Sergeant Todd added: “This is not about BTP wishing to dampen spirits but we must ensure that anyone travelling or working on the rail network on these days can do so safely and without hindrance. The appropriate notice will be given by the train operator, ScotRail.”
