The main hall at Wick Assembly Rooms will be a riot of colour this Saturday afternoon (March 4) when the East Caithness Women's Institute (WI) Bulb Show takes place.

Ladies from the various Institutes in the east side of the county have been tending their bulbs since they were planted in October last year – and will have them looking at their best in the hope of taking home the honours from this year's show.

In the senior section there are 11 flower classes including daffodils, narcissi, tulips, crocus and amaryllis. Other sections include floral art, baking and craft items. Junior members will also be encouraged to show their skills in the various sections.

The doors open at 2pm and the show will be officially opened by Jan McEwan MBE ahead of this years prize-winners being announced. Admission of £2.50 includes afternoon tea served along with a selection of home baking which the WI members are renowned for.

There will also be a raffle and a sales table with local produce, baking and a selection of house plants on offer.
