Big-hearted Wick volunteers helping Caithness cats

Cats Protection charity volunteers have been busy with a special pop-up table at a Wick pet shop.

Anne Duffy and Michelle Brown were two of the volunteers manning a table for the charity in Pets at Home shop.

“Today we’re doing 10am to 4pm and we’ll be here every weekend until December 21,” said Michelle.

“We’re bringing focus to Cats Protection here in Pets at Home who have very kindly allowed us to come in and use their facilities,” added Anne.

“They have a Santa Paws campaign [run by their charity, the Pets Foundation] and we’re involved with that.”

Both volunteers said they got their own feline friends through Cats Protection and felt it now appropriate to give a little back to the charity.

At the pop-up table, there is a raffle where you pick a number for £1 and can win various goodies including Christmas hampers for adults and children along with a cuddly Garfield toy.

“All the money raised goes to the local branch of Cats Protection so it stays local,” said Anne.

Cats Protection is always looking for volunteers so if you are interested please contact the charity at www.cats.org.uk/caithness or telephone 0345 371 4217 for more information. The charity can also help if you wish to give a cat a new home.
