Three selfless Wick women raised £4400 for various local charities and handed over cheques at an event in the town's Seaforth Club.

Julie Donald, Donna Slater and Freda Perry get involved with various fundraising activities throughout the year, such as discos, bonus ball games and big raffles. "This year we also did a wheelchair push from Thurso to Wick to raise funds for local charities," added Julie.

"We raised £4400 and donated £1000 to Laurandy; £500 to Caithness General Hospital; £500 to the Haven; £400 to Macmillan; £300 to Caithness Rural Transport; £300 to CHAT; £300 to the Caithness Foodbank; £300 to Ellie Watt for her Shoebox Appeal – she donates to local people as well as Blythswood; £250 to the Wick Christmas Lights; and £250 to Wick Cemetery Volunteers."

Julie said that she and her two pals also gave £300 to the Seaforth Club for letting them use the premises. "We would like to thank them for that," she said.
