Beavers in Thurso got to savour some home-grown treats when they visited the Thurso Grows community garden in the Ormlie area of the town.

Members of Reay Beaver Scouts and 2nd Thurso Beaver Scouts were there to learn all about organic gardening by experiencing different plants, vegetables and flowers for themselves.

The youngsters got to touch, smell and taste the edible plants as part of their work towards gaining their gardener's badge.

A total of 17 Beaver Scouts attended the garden, which is part of Thurso Community Development Trust's enterprise, on Saturday. The event was funded through Tesco.

As a treat, that the Beavers also learned how to make pizzas and cook them – which their leaders said they loved, especially when eating them afterwards.
