Thurso Community Development Trust (TCDT) will be holding a selection of basic cooking skills workshops with participants earning kitchen sets at the end.

The Cook and Learn workshops will help guide individuals who are keen to start their cooking journey. With a sharp uptick in the cost of living, the TCDT says it can be more cost effective to cook foods from scratch, or at the very least, have a certain degree of confidence in cooking to make life a wee bit easier.

Food coordinator Sara-Jane Hardy said: “Teaching people to cook is so important, as those skills trickle down, from parent to child, and help to make life in the kitchen a bit more fun. With how this winter is shaping up, it’s going to be a massive help to have a nice warming stew on the go.”

These workshops will take place beginning on October 3, and continue for a four-week period, every Monday from 10am until 12pm, at Thurso Youth Club. The two-hour workshops will end with a gifted kitchen starter kit to help people get set up in their own kitchens and take what they’ve learned to start cooking in the kitchen. You will have to attend all four of the workshops and at the end of the group of sessions, you will earn the kitchen set.

These sessions are free of charge, but spaces are limited, so getting in touch with the Trust via phone at 01847 867310 or its social media is important.
