Banniskirk SWI enjoy First Responders talk at latest meeting

An insight into the work of the First Responders was provided to members of Banniskirk SWI during their October meeting.
President Fran Manners welcomed Elspeth Husband from the First Responders, who gave a very interesting talk on what to do when faced with a casualty, whether it was a child or adult. She also highlighted what signs to look for and what people can do to help.
"She also told us where the defibrillators are located in Thurso, should we ever need to use them," said a spokeswoman. "The scheme was set up in 2005 and training is undertaken by the ambulance service.
The October competition was for three lemon drizzle cupcakes which Elspeth kindly judged for the members.
The result was: 1, Jan Falconer; 2, Anne Gunn; 3, Vicki Kelly.
Raffles were won by Elspeth Husband, Isobel Mackenzie, Vicki Kelly, Mandy MacDonald and Jan Falconer.
Tea hostess for the evening was Jan Falconer.
The Banniskirk Cup for most points in handicrafts was won by Fran Manners & the Banniskirk Silver plate for most points in baking was won by Jan Falconer.
The AGM was also held during the meeting and the following office bearers were elected.
President - Mandy MacDonald; Vice-president - Vicki Kelly; Secretary - Anne Gunn; Treasurer - Janis Coghill; Press Secretary - Jan Falconer.
The group's next meeting will be held on Monday, November 13. New members are all welcome.
