The north is set to stage a Highland Weekend of Action for Ukraine to fundraise for those affected by the ongoing invasion of Ukraine.
The move won the "wholehearted" support of some of the biggest agencies in the region including High Life Highland after it was backed by Highland Council.
Alongside the community, public and private sector, the drive will be staged during the school holidays from April 1-3.
It was one of a number of proposals put forward that were approved by councillors during an emergency debate at Thursday's full council meeting.
The council will also directly promote ways to donate financially to support people directly affected by the invasion among its staff and the public.
Council staff and members who wish to donate to Ukraine appeals on a regular monthly basis through payroll deduction will also be supported to do so.
The debate also included discussion about humanitarian support; refugees support and support for staff, young people and the wider public and in particular for those with families and friends involved in the crisis.
Members also agreed that the council will engage to help develop the Government Sponsorship scheme being proposed, which will build on current programmes and structures already in place to support refugees and migrants.
Among the organisations where people are being encouraged to use for donations are:
- Disaster Emergency Committee (DEC),
- UNICEF
- The Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund (SCIAF)
- Blythswood
Steve Walsh, chief executive of High Life Highland, said: “High Life Highland is wholeheartedly committed to supporting Highland Council in its humanitarian relief efforts, from local community support to fundraising efforts.
“The HLH board, management and staff will most definitely get behind the Highland Weekend of Action for Ukraine and will look to ensure all HLH services and locations across the Highlands play a part in the initiative.”
