Attacker jailed after 17 years of assaults

A MAN who assaulted four women and a man over a 17-year period in Caithness and Shetland has been jailed for six years.

Gary Thomson (42) who lived in Wick and Shetland, attacked his victims on various occasions between February 1, 1996 and March, 1 2013.

Thomson was convicted of serious assault charges following a hearing at the High Court in Aberdeen last month.

After declaring sentence at the High Court in Edinburgh, Lord Bannatyne ordered Thomson be supervised by the authorities for three years after his release from prison.
