AN emotional appeal has been made to find Wick relatives of a former Hull fisherman who died last month.

David (Davey) Hendry died aged 84 at his home in a sheltered housing complex in the city at the end of October. But, according to the Hull Daily Mail, his family have not come forward and his funeral was going ahead today (Friday).

A report on the Hull Daily Mail website said Mr Hendry had been described as a "lovely gentleman" and it is believed that he has family members in Wick as well as two sons in Grimsby and a daughter in America.

"Davey was my dad's best friend of over 40 years and ever since he passed away we have all been trying to find his next of kin ahead of the funeral," Jo Dixon told the newspaper.

"We believe he has two sons in Grimsby and a daughter in America and police are aware of the situation.

"We have been trying to do everything to try and find Davey's family but now we feel like we've hit a brick wall.

"He was a lovely man and we want to let his family know."
