Apology over 'impulsive behaviour' in Wick court room
A Wick man who lost his temper in court last month was given some advice by a sheriff.
Sheriff Andrew Berry told Darren Coghill – who banged the dock after an application to vary his bail condition was refused at a previous hearing – that he needed to address "his impulsive behaviour".
The sheriff advised Coghill (30) to take a deep breath when faced with a crisis or a problem and step back.
Sheriff Berry added: "It will stop you coming back to court."
Coghill apologised for his reaction to the sheriff's decision not to vary the terms of bail so that he could return home to his partner, and said he had been upset at the time.
On Wednesday, Sheriff Berry lifted the restriction – which had banned Coghill from contacting his partner after he admitted threatening or abusive behaviour outside their home in Loch Street, on October 8 – and made the accused subject to a six-month structured supervision order.
