Anaphylaxis Campaign calls for more support

People can be allergic to any kind of food and they may not even realise it.

PEOPLE are being called on to join the only UK-wide charity to exclusively meet the needs of those at risk from severe allergic reactions.

The Anaphylaxis Campaign has been running for 20 years after being founded in 1994 by a small group of parents led by David Reading OBE whose daughter, Sarah, tragically died aged just 17 from anaphylaxis to peanut in October 1993.

The campaign provides information and support relating to foods and other triggers such as latex, drugs and insect stings.

Its ultimate aim is to create a safe environment for all people with allergies by educating the food industry, schools, pre-schools, colleges, health professionals and other key audiences, with a focus on medical facts, food labelling, risk reduction and allergen management.

The charity will be running lots of events and special projects to celebrate its anniversary and it is keen for extra support, either by donation or becoming a member, to make sure it can continue its work.

For more information go to www.anaphylaxis.org.uk or follow the charity on Twitter @Anaphylaxiscoms.
