An event to fund events: New Inverness music festival could help fund other gatherings, councillors told and avoid cancellations like the Red Hot Highland Fling
Fresh proposals are emerging from Highland Council about the proposed new Inverness music festival as it could be used to fund other events throughout the year.
We reported on the idea to stage a festival at the Northern Meeting Park which presents an “exciting opportunity for something new in the Highlands” in February.
Now it looks like the first time it could happen is next March and the proceeds from it if successful would go to funding other such events, like the Hogmanay bash.
The Inverness events and festivals working group met to discuss how the programme is shaping up and that included more information about the festival.
According to minutes of the meeting: “It had been suggested that the event might be better suited to shoulder months, and the end of March 2026 had been proposed.

“An update regarding sponsorship was provided and it was felt that if this became an annual event, funds raised would support future Bonfire and Hogmanay events.
“Discussions would continue, which would include detailed costings and marketing”.
This comes after the disappointment for some revellers that the Hogmanay party was cancelled after what had been a high profile rebranding of the event.
