Allotment touring show will wrap up Lyth summer season
Lyth Arts Centre has dug deep to present a highly rated outdoor show that will round off its summer season.
Allotment, by Jules Horne, is a touring production from Nutshell Theatre based around two sisters who live by the seasons and play out their rivalries on a small plot of land.
Directed by Kate Nelson and designed by Sarah Paulley, it is performed by Gowan Calder and Nicola Jo Cully. A 2011 Fringe First winner, it was described by on reviewer as "a grow-your-own treat".
Lyth co-director Charlotte Mountford said: "It has been wonderful to host the return of live performance to Caithness this summer, including music of all genres, family theatre and pop-up dance shows.
"We're really pleased to be wrapping up the summer season with Nutshell's incredible theatre show Allotment. I saw the show at Edinburgh Fringe back when I was student and it had a lasting impact on me so I'm really pleased we're able to bring it to Caithness."

This new version of the show draws on elements of the original production.
According to Nutshell, "the very human need for connection to community which lies at the heart of Allotment is at the centre of current discourse about individual isolation and community dislocation which has been caused by the events of the last 18 months".
There will be two performances at Lyth on Friday, September 3 (at 2pm and 4pm), with tickets priced £12 per bubble of up to five people.
Tickets are available on the Lyth Arts Centre website or email boxoffice@lytharts.org.uk.
