A WICK whist group has already raised a staggering £1713.50 in its new weekly base at Pulteney House.

Known as the Alexander's Whist Group, the players used to meet in the Francis Street Club where they were formed a few years ago by the manager at the time, the late Alexander Bremner.

The club closed early last year and the whist drive players had nowhere to go until Pulteney House came to the rescue.

Now Alexander's Whist Group meets in the care home on a Monday evening at 7.30pm and the weekly gatherings have proved popular with one of the residents joining in the sessions.

Group member Ann Gunn said: "We get donations for prizes and the money that we raise goes to Pulteney House. Around 10 or 12 people come along but we are always looking for new members."
