Wick Academy were anything but bog standard as they smashed eight past Fort William at a drenched Harmsworth Park.

The homeside took the lead through Stevie Cunningham after four minutes as he skipped past the defence to rifle home.

Fort equalised in the 18th minute when Richard Macadie was guilty of clipping Sean Grant in the box who then went on to slot the penalty.

Academy quickly regained the advantage with two goals in two minutes thanks to a second from Cunningham and a scorcher from Martin Gunn.

The win was sealed just before half time when Gary Weir made it 4-1 with a cool finish in the box.

Davie Allan scored his first of the day nine minutes into the second half when his shot went in off the post.

Grant Steven scored his first of the season to make it six and Macadie increased the lead when he ran round goalkeeper Steven Hyslop.

Davie Allan made it eight with six mintues to go with a clever one-two with Alan Farquhar before the referee put Fort William out of their misery.

* Post match reaction from Davie Kirkwood and Danny Conlon only in Wednesday's Courier.
