The A9 has reopened in but "traffic remains slow" following an earlier one vehicle crash near Clashmore in Sutherland.

Traffic Scotland confirmed shortly before 10am that the road had reopened following the crash at around 8.20am.

A spokesman said: "Slow traffic remains in the area [but] all lanes are now running."

They added: "Please only travel if it is essential."

The appeal came amid warnings from police and the Met Office of treacherous ice conditions in the Highlands – particularly in Sutherland, Caithness and Ross-shire.
